If the death was unattended and unexpected call 111 and request for an ambulance and notify the Police. The NZ coroner will determine if the deceased can be released to the funeral home or if further investigation is required. Once the decision has been made the Coroner may authorize the release of the body. In the meantime we need to notify the Coroner that we would be representing the family so that the release documents could be emailed to us. The Coroner would also advise the next of kin of their decision and the approximate time it would take to complete the investigation.

If the person dies of natural causes; long term illness or if the death was expected contact the GP who would need to come out to see the deceased personally so that the required Medical and Cremation papers can be completed. Once the Doctor has been or speaks to Funeral Director the deceased can be removed into our care. We can help the family with this process and liaise with the family Doctor and arrange for the necessary documents.

The family would need to pay for the Doctors Fees for the preparation of the documents. The charges are invoiced to us. The family only pays the amount invoiced.

The necessary documents will be prepared by Doctor concerned and the deceased will be kept in the hospital morgue. You may call us to start the arrangement process and authorise to uplift the deceased from the Hospital. There is no fee for preparation of documents.
The staff will contact the family to notify them of the death and make arrangements with the house Doctor to prepare the necessary documents. Once the documents are ready or in some cases the house Doctor may authorise us the transfer of the deceased into our care and collect the documents from the Doctors office. You may contact us and we would liaise with Doctor regarding the documents.

Notify the Police & Close Relatives about the deceased. Engage Just Cremations. When all the documents are ready Just Cremations would arrange a time with the family or the institution where the death occurred and remove the deceased into their care. The documents are then sent to the Medical Referee authorized by the Crematorium Authority to approve the cremation In the meantime the deceased would be washed and dressed if requested by the family and then placed in a non viewing cardboard or simple casket. The cremation takes place once the approval is received.
Cremation is a process of reducing the human body to bone fragments by the use of intense heat for a period of two to three hours. The cremated remains, which are commonly referred to as “ashes,” are removed from the cremation chamber. They are then processed into a fine sand-like consistency and placed into an urn. The ashes weigh typically between 2 and 4 kgs.
Under normal conditions Ash remains are processed and shall be ready for collection after 9.30am on weekdays (Mon-Fri) Arrangements has to be made for collection on Saturday Sunday or Public Holidays and a fee applies. The Urn containing the Ash could be stored at the crematorium for a maximum of 30 days without any charges. After 30 days fee of $2 per day shall apply. In any event the Ash must be claimed with 3 months of cremation if not this would be scattered as per tradition.
Any time after the death has occurred; the family can contact Just Cremations to start the arrangement process. The final arrangements can be completed online through our online arrangement process or by fax. It is important that the family contact Just Cremation as soon as possible after the death has an occurred.
